How the Book Creator Course Works
You will be part of a community of other authors and together you'll learn a step-by-step method for developing your manuscript and building your audience to create a book that leaves a legacy and reaches a wide audience
1.
Brainstorm & Develop Your Topic
-
Every author begins their journey with a conversation with Professor Koester, 2020 USASBE National Professor of the Year.
-
We discuss your goals, your ideas, and map out a custom plan to start before the live course sessions begin.

2.
-
You don't sit down to "write a book", but you start by developing the core elements in a book.
-
You'll learn how to research, develop, and write snippets, stories, and scenes that serve as the foundational content for your book.
How to Write a Book's "Elements"

3.
How to Build Your Manuscript
-
Great books are built on structures, and you'll learn how to apply the elements you're writing to these structures.
-
There's no single "template" for a book, but you'll have access to dozens of structures built by deconstructing some of the most popular nonfiction, novels, and memoirs.
-
Designing and structuring the book is a collaborative process, and you'll be partnered with a developmental editor to get real-time feedback, learn how to become a great story teller, how to structure your content, and showcase the depth of knowledge you've gained.
4.
-
Most book marketing advice focuses after the book is out, but a book's success is determined before.
-
You'll learn how to build your author profile, do Work-In-Progress (WIP) marketing, and create a community of fans and beta readers to help make the book better and bigger.
How to Build Your Audience

Book Pre-Sale & Publishing (Additional 6 months)
Pre-Sale of Your Book to Build Your Audience
-
Successful authors understand the power of building their audience before the book is published.
-
You'll have the opportunity to participate in a 6-week, coached experience to get early readers and supporters to buy your book.
5.

6.
-
Of course if you write a good manuscript, authors hope to get it published and Professor Koester will help all authors understand their publishing options today through his course
-
Approved authors may choose to publish their manuscript through the Creator Institute-New Degree Press partnership
-
Authors always retain complete rights ownership, including 100% of royalties

Fall Semester Programs & Pricing
Professor Koester offers this five-month program of his Book Creators course at no cost other than your editor dues thanks to the support of sponsors, grants, and his university department.
Each author will pay dues of $999 at the beginning of the program to work one-on-one with a professional developmental editor. The extremely high publishing rate of authors in this program is driven by this level of personal and individual editorial coaching. Published alums of the program come back as coaches, mentors, and instructors.
Wait, what’s the catch? There isn’t one…we are a social venture (B-corp certification pending 2022) dedicated to empowering more ‘underheard’ voices in publishing. If you’ve got a story or a book idea and are open to being part of a community of other writers, come join. And you only pay editor dues once you’ve joined and feel it’s a great fit. There’s no risk or obligation to plug in and explore our community-powered writing experience.
Here are the details of the experience:
-
20-week curriculum (5 months)
-
22 live sessions (weekly)
-
18 live writing & marketing workshops (weekly)
-
Private coaching with a professional developmental editor including weekly calls
-
Guest lectures from authors & creators
-
Author coaches
-
Access to dozens of templates
-
Lifetime membership in the Book Creators community
-
Currently, our Book Creators program is partially sponsored to enable as many authors to participate (authors are only paying for the cost of their editor)
